“I don’t know enough people” – it’s probably the most common objection to booking a party and we’ve all heard it in our line of work. How do we go around that one? How do we get people to book our parties regardless of how many people they know?

Well, the secret nobody tells you is that people having this objection are often actually interested in either buying what you have to offer or in direct sales. They just have a problem, and are often willing to talk about finding the solution to overcome it. So, what do we do in these situations?

First of all, we want to ask a couple of questions and just find out how genuine they are about hosting a party and how big their wishlist is. As a general rule, the longer their wishlist is, the more they are likely to agree to host the party! So, first you want to find out what are some of the products they would like to get as a host – free products, hostess rewards, half-priced products, discounts, and bonuses.

You see, people tend to have these ideas in their head that are often far from truth. A lot of times, I find that potential hosts just assume that they need to have around ten people at a party for it to go ahead. I think it really helps to let them know that we can still do a party even if they’ve got only 2 or 3 guests, and they are still likely eligible to get the hostess reward, and free products and discounts, which really depends on how your hostess reward works.

So, you need to know inside-out and back to front the way your program works with your company. You should be able to tell them exactly what they get for hosting a party. You also need to know the answers to these questions:

  • Is there a minimum amount of sales required to be eligible for those bonuses?
  • When the sales reach X, what do they qualify for?
  • What’s the percentage of credits?
  • How do the booking rewards work?
  • What is in it for the hostess as a thank you for introducing you to your next host and for getting bookings on the day of her party?

Considering all this, the hostess really has no need to stress or panic about anything – how many people shows up, what our sales are going to get to, or whether or not we get new bookings on the day of her party.

To recap, when you face the I-don’t-know-enough-people objection, explain that you are happy to do the party even if it’s only for 2 or 3 people, that the hostess is still getting the hostess rewards, and that she is likely going to qualify for extra gifts and awesome discounts. You can reassure the hostess by saying that the “party can go ahead even with only two or three people. Let’s brainstorm a guest list, and if we can come up with 4 to 6 names, I’m happy to still do the party.” After that, simply move straight to the closing question, “So, would you prefer to do a weekday or a weekend to get together with your friends?” and in the end, arrange the date within the next two to three weeks away maximum.

This is how we deal with “I don’t know enough people” objection and how we turn it to our mutual benefit. The most important thing overall is – put your party shoes on, transfer your positive attitude to your hostess, and be prepared to answer their questions!
