3 Key Strategies on how to Get Bookings on the day of a Vendor Event in Direct Sales
Even though being a party planner or a direct seller is often exciting and allows some really fabulous opportunities, we all know it’s not always a picnic. That is why here at Party Plan 123, we are doing everything to make this as smooth as possible for you! So, put your party shoes on and walk with us through 3 key strategies, 3 simple steps on how to get bookings on the day of a vendor event.
This training is great for party planners:
- who are not having bookings at the moment as a party planning consultant;
- brand-new into the direct sales world;
- who having some bookings, but nowhere near as many as what you really need to make a great income in your party planning business,
- and finally, this training is perfect for direct sales leaders searching for ways to help and support your team to build their business and for them to never ever run out of bookings again.
Let us first introduce you to these 3 steps, before we dive into each of them in more detail.
Step #1 – Rather than talking about what you are trying to get from the person who is at your vendor event stall or your promotional display (bookings on the day), talk about what you’ve got to give to them. From our previous training, you know how much everyone loves free products, so talk about your free products!
Step #2 – In addition to free products, you should give away a bonus for booking today! Offer something to create a sense of urgency, so that clients will say yes to booking a party with you today rather than contacting you later. This will be a ‘TODAY-ONLY’ offer that they can not receive if they book over the phone after the vendor event…. that’s what I found worked best for me and I believe it can work well for you too!
Step #3 – As we always say, 3 is a party, so this step might be the defining one – just go ahead and ask the closing question. It’s as simple as that!
Step 1 – To catch a fish, think like a fish!
How many times do we feel defeated and at a loss when our effort at a vendor event was not awarded by any bookings?
When people stop by at your vendor event display, put yourself into the shoes of your passers-by. To maximize your bookings, ask yourself: “What’s in it for them?” Think of yourselves as someone who was stopping at your table – what would motivate you to say yes to booking a party?
It’s all about them! And talking about free products is what will bring you bookings. Offer them free products for booking a party, discounted products, half-off products as a thank you and a reward when someone’s dropping by your table and having a look at the products. Tell them these magic words: “I’m looking for people who prefer free products.”
As people at vendor events expect you to just sell products, you should turn your number one goal not into selling lots of products, but to booking parties. This way, you are no longer selling and promoting your business just to one person, but you are also maximizing the opportunity to get yourselves in front of 7 or 8 people on average at just one party!
Step 2 – The Magic is in the bonus!
As a step 2, give away a little bit of something extra – something motivating – that you can use to create the sense of urgency and the reason to say yes to booking today. You can give away $50 vouchers, retired products, or specials, all which you can put in your goodies basket.
Say something like: “Everyone who books a party from the event here today, I am giving away ‘X’ as an extra bonus as a thank you from me and that’s on top of all the other gifts and discounts and free products that the company always gives to every single one of our hostesses.” Watch it work it’s magic!
When an interested person stops by and asks “How much does this one cost?” surprise them a little bit by saying: “Well, actually, I’m here today because I’m looking for people who would prefer to get free products.”
As you will be a stranger to them in most cases, and they will approach you without being familiar with your products, giving away the bonus will enhance your bookings not just at the moment, but in the future as well!
Step 3 – Give them positive choices!
After the first two magic steps, the final one comes in a form of asking the closing question. Essentially, you have to ask “Are you going to book a party?” but tailored in a way to get more yeses. For example: “If you were to book a party to get the $50 extra gift voucher, would you prefer to do a weekday or a weekend?”
This is called Alternate Choice, meaning that you are offering your clients two choices rather than just an open-ended question. By using “If”, you are softening your question and it is not so direct.
Just give them two options that are a yes and a yes. And when you give them a positive choice, your bookings can’t possibly go down! Let us know how your vendor event goes.
